Meet the Maurys

God led our family to Romania in the early fall of 2002. Our home church Calvary Chapel Treasure Valley of Boise, Idaho confirmed our calling and lovingly sent us out to fulfill the great commission to Eastern Europe. It has been a wonderful journey and we are so blessed to see fruit come from His work through our ministry and we are blessed in the process to be growing in our walk with the Lord day by day. God puts in our hearts His desires, and when we do His will we discover that we are fulfilling the deepest desires of our own hearts, even when we might not have even imagined these desires.

Villages of Vladeasa

In 2004 God directing us from our training grounds working with orphans and helping in a church plant in Bistrtia Romania to minister in the villages of the Mountains of Vladeasa located in North Western Romania. In this mountainous zone there are many scattered villages may of which have yet to understand a personal God and His wonderful saving grace. God called us to an unique ministry with Rroma (Gypsy), Romanian and Hungarian villagers. He filled us with His unconditional love for the poor and downcast and equipped us to minister to those who live the simple, old fashion agricultural life.

During our three year ministry in Vladeasa, God opened marvelous doors to pant two village churches, one in Calatele and the other Sacuieu. We were so blessed when God provided Romanian co-labors who worked with us full time. The Hagiu family, Nicu, Silvana, Leo, and Naomi joined our ministry team in the Fall of 2006. Little did we know at the time, God had called Nicu to pastor these village churches and soon we would be handing them off to him. God works in mysterious and wonderful ways! To our great delight, the Hagiu family continues to minister to the village churches and the ministry is growing in both number and influence in the community.

City of Cluj

For the majority of our time of ministry in Vladeasa, we were blessed to have a translator, Razvan Pop, who was faithful to come every Sunday from Cluj to translate for our services in Calatele. Once a week we would travel to Cluj and help Razvan spread the gospel message on the streets and in the parks of Cluj. During this time God formed a friendship between our families and little did we know that God would one day call our family to minister in the city of Cluj. In the Fall of 2007 God directed us to lead the ministry team and church plant in Cluj. The focus here in Cluj is upon the 100,000 students who are in school in here. We have opened a house that is a hang out place for students and we meet for Sunday services at a near by pizza shop - God is using unique methods to reach these students. We are looking forward to see what God has in store for both Vladeasa and Cluj as He works in and through the team.

Sweden Sometime?

With God all things are possible and the future is open and clear as He leads. Sometimes He gives His children advance notice about His plans, other times not. Three years ago we felt a tug on our hearts for my people in Sweden. We have made one journey to Sweden and God confirmed His calling for us there but the timing is not yet, nor do we know in what way He will call us to serve Him and the Swedish people. For now we continue to lift up the Swedish people in prayer as God expands our hearts for another nation. Both the Romanian and Swedish people have a special place in our hearts.

Jars of Clay

It amazes us how God can work many wonderful things in and through willing jars of clay. God has been placing on our hearts and of those around us that His goodness and faithfulness to work isn’t dependent upon our ability but rather on our faith in His goodness and grace. In fact, He is glorified and proven that He is strong through our weaknesses. God has been working in awesome ways and we love spreading the news of His work here - to Him be all the praise and glory! We are filled with joy to be called to be part of His plan here in Romania. The challenge on the horizon is a daunting task, but we know that with Christ all things are possible.
