PRAYER NEEDS.

HAGIUS & POPS

That these families would be filled with strength and the Holy Spirit - equipped for the work set before them. For their health, and God's provision.

PERSECUTION

For the persecution from neighbors of the Bible study participants in Calatele. That the strong man would be bound and the Holy Spirit would open the eyes of the blind to see the truth.

SEED OF THE WORD

Please pray for the new believers in Sacuieu - that the seed of the Word would take root in their hearts.

Ministry  God continues to open doors of effectual ministry especially with the Rroma people in the Vladeasa valley. God has lead us to begin work in the village of Calatele, and through that fellowship God has opened other doors in the villages of Sacuieu. Each of these villages has its own flavor and different set of challenges. In the villages of Calatele and Sacuieu we minister mainly among the Rroma (Gypsy). Our primary labors at this point are prayer, spreading the Gospel message of hope - a restored relationship with Jesus, and feeding the sheep that God has entrusted to us.

A Nation of Challenges Romania is under the curse of long standing religious traditions  – I have heard a saying that gives a good sentiment of the general thought: that “Romanians have been Christians before Christ”. Generally, Romanians are occupied primarily with materialism of the West, and give the back seat to the things of God. When thought is given about God, there is a mentality of a misunderstanding of His grace. The tendency is to lean upon works, or what they have given to God as security for a place with God in eternity. Simply put, many know about Jesus but very few have found a personal, loving and gracious Savior and Friend in Jesus Christ.

CALATELE   This large village is well known in the Vladeasa valley as the place not to be that is, it is the home of the rough and tough. Our introduction to this village was concluded by an escort out of the Gypsy neighborhood by children throwing rocks, and adult spewing curses at us. In complete contrast, now God has opened the doors of ministry among a handful of new believers whose powerful testimony testifies of God’s redemptive work. We minister in a neighborhood of this village that is segregated from the rest of town and designated for the poor and outcast. The conditions that the Gypsies live in can be almost classified as third world: that is they are without running water, fresh water, waste system and other amenities. And arising from this setting, God has given us vision that from the native believers of this village will become evangelists and workers who will in turn spread the Good News! Please pray for effective doors of ministry in this “sending” village. Currently we are in the process of building a church building in the Gypsy neighborhood and we hope to have a building up by this next summer. On a regular basis we hold Sunday services, which include Bible study and worship services for both the children and adults.

SACUIEU  Set as a rose in the midst of thorns, Sacuieu is a Romanian village of both beauty and pain. Sacuieu sits in a beautiful valley of the Vladeasa Mountains on a road traveled by many European tourists. Off of the main road, on the outskirts of town, squats a Gypsy neighborhood of shantytown huts – the brutal sight of the basic struggle for survival seen on many faces both young and old. In the middle of the pain, one can hear the heart of God beating for the poor, the widow and orphan. By the grace of God He has reached the Gypsies of this valley through a very unlikely means – through a small group of new believers in Calatele. According to His vision, God has reached these people, and has opened to us effective doors of ministry among this spiritually hungry group. God is doing absolutely amazing work among these people and we are privileged to minister to them. We hold services for both adults and children alike. The best is yet to come! Pray with us that the “strong man” will be bound and that the spiritual eyes of the blind will see their Redeemer.

SANCRAIU Ah, the village of Sancraiu is like oasis in the middle of a dry desert. Much of this village’s vitality comes from the local’s positive attitudes and as a result many tourists visit this “old country” European Village. This village is situated in the middle of Calatele and Sacuieu and we are praying that God will open the doors of ministry here among the Romanian and Hungarian people. God has situated our headquarters for our Romanian association in this village and has given us numerous opportunities for ministry especially with the elderly.

Pray Please pray with us that 1) the strongman would be bound in this valley, and that his captives would be set free (Matt 12:29); 2) “That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him.” - Paul’s prayer in Ephesians chapter 1 applied for the people of Romania. Much prayer is needed for this valley, as we know that only through His power the rocky soil will be slowly tilled and God’s seed can take root.
